I spent hours researching this last night. Considered not posting because I don't know if anyone's even still interested in this, but… I guess I may as well throw it out there. dons full hockey gear to brace for tomatoes and other thrown objects
I was looking up info on the deaths of the children from the Parkland, FL school shooting, and had a really hard time finding related obits. I'm looking at actual obituaries, only. Not newspaper articles, but the real deal. I went through from today and scrolled back to the 14th and checked every one as I went.
The following is what I found.
None related at the following:
http:// floridaobits.tributes.com/browse_obituaries?city=Parkland&state=FL
https:// www.bethisraelchapel.com/obituaries/
http:// www.legacy.com/obituaries/local/florida/parkland-obituaries
http:// www.topix.com/obits/parkland-fl
There's only one name in my previous tweet's listed obits for the 14th, and she was 86 years old.
https:// www.bethisraelchapel.com/obits/alice-levenson/
Only old people listed since, too.
Found one as young as 49 in this one:
http:// www.legacy.com/obituaries/sunsentinel/browse?page=2
I found one with a Luke Hoyer, age 15 at http:// www.legacy.com/obituaries/sunsentinel/browse?page=5
Strangely, there's no photo there, but the funeral home ref'd has one.
http:// obits.dignitymemorial.com/dignity-memorial/obituary.aspx?n=Luke-Hoyer&lc=7089&pid=188201630&mid=7763588&locale=en_US
No cause of death included, but that would be VERY hard to write about, regardless of what it may have been.
Only one listed at http:// scaranofuneralhome.com/2/Home.html for the 14th was an 85 year old.
All more recent listings were of elderly people, with the exception of one in their 30's.
At http:// www.legacy.com/obituaries/sunsentinel/browse?page=10 I found a Melani Rivera, who was 16. She was a sophmore at Western High, and was hit by a 100-year-old driver while walking to her bus stop to go to school. Though this listing was in the section for Feb. 14th at the obituary page, it occurred on the previous Thursday, Feb. 8th. Details here are per http:// www.miamiherald.com/news/local/community/broward/article199927319.html
It might also be worthwhile to note that the obit for "Luke T. Hoyer" asks for donations to be sent to a company called http:// voicesbroward.org. I haven't dug into them, but there may be something there.
The domain was registered through godaddy on 2011-03-16 according to https:// whois.icann.org/en/lookup?name=voicesbroward.org
While researching these obits I was listening to various vids and had to stop to watch this one. It's one of the kids, and what she says makes me wonder even more. She says they were told to expect screaming, etc… well, see for yourselves: https:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=un9oPPMHOUE
I do NOT know how to archive vids. Everything else I have archived, except tributes.com because the robots.txt prevented it.
So anyway, that's it.
One obituary to any victims of this shooting 4 days after the fact. The one name (Luke) has been plastered all over the news. I've seen this before <spoiler>Sandy Hook</spoiler>. It makes me go hmmmm.
