If they think that arresting western citizens as a type of revenge will work then they really are retarded, and very short sighted.
The Chinese have assets all over the world, but if they start using this tactic don't they understand that the west can turn around and do it to them in a much more strategic way? Do they really think that the African and Sth East Asian countries will no sell them out and start arresting their people?
What will they do then?
No one has their back and we could see many more companies like Huawei blacklisted, causing the Chinese economy to implode. Putin might be forced to make a decision to back, or back away, from China, right now he is hedging his bets. If Putin intends to keep the Kuril Islands it is because of the submarine bases, the Kuril Islands could effectively block Russian subs if they were handed back to Japan and US forces were stationed there.
