Possible next EU boss says nationalism is “the way of destruction”
Left-wing politician Frans Timmermans from the Netherlands was nominated last week as the next President of the European Commission.
If elected, he promises to crush all conservative governments in the EU and make Europe and Africa a joint continent.
Timmermans is today the first Vice-President of the European Commission, and has a good chance of taking over as President after Jean-Claude Juncker.
In earlier statements, Timmermans has said that Europe cannot continue to be a place of peace and freedom unless diversity through mass migration is implemented in the continent, even in its most distant parts.

Nine Alleged MS-13 Members Charged in Violent Racketeering Conspiracy
A federal grand jury returned a seventh superseding indictment Monday charging nine men in connection with a conspiracy to participate in a racketeering enterprise known as La Mara Salvatrucha, or MS-13.

Democrat Reps., Lawyers Escort Caravan Migrants Across the Border
Two Democratic legislators and immigration lawyers escorted a group of Central American caravan migrants in Tijuana past U.S. guards and through border gates on Monday evening.
The group of favored migrants at the Otay Mesa port of entry included Maria Meza, the Central American woman who was photographed when she brought her two children right up to the U.S. border as border officers launched tear gas to repel aggressive migrants. The group also included several teenagers who will soon turn 18 and lose the legal protections set for non-adult migrants.
“After 7hrs, I can now confirm: Maria Meza & her kids — featured in this @Reuters image fleeing tear gas at the border last month — just filed for asylum,” tweeted California Democratic Rep. Jimmy Gonzalez. “They’re on American soil.”

US sanctions 16 Russian military spies, troll farm
The US Treasury sanctioned 16 members of Russia's GRU military intelligence agency over a "wide range of malign activity", including interference in the 2016 presidential vote and hacking international organisations.
The move came on Wednesday "in response to Russia's continued disregard for international norms", the Treasury said in a statement.
Those targetted included Victor Alekseyevich Boyarkin, a former GRU officer who acted on behalf of sanctioned Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska, it said.
"Deripaska and Boyarkin were involved in providing Russian financial support to a Montenegrin political party ahead of Montenegro's 2016 elections," the Treasury said.
Deripaska was among several oligarchs, senior government officials and a state-owned Russian weapons trading company that the US sanctioned in April.
Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov, two GRU agents, who allegedly took part in the attempted assassination of Sergei Skripal in the United Kingdom, were also among the sanctioned.

The measures also apply to two individuals and three companies tied to the Russian troll farm, the Internet Research Agency (IRA), accused of trying to manipulate US public opinion.
The Treasury also targetted Aleksei Morenets and Evgenii Serebriakov, officers in the GRU who played an integral role in compromising the database of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) in 2016, as well as assisting the GRU's attempted cyber intrusions into the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
"To date, this administration has sanctioned 272 Russia-related individuals and entities for a broad range of malign activities," the Treasury said.

Nation of Islam receiving federal cash to teach prisoners

The Nation of Islam and its leaders have received hundreds of thousands of dollars from the U.S. government since 2008 to teach religious study programs for federal prison inmates, according to records reviewed by the Washington Examiner.
A black nationalist group led by Louis Farrakhan, the Nation of Islam preaches that white people are “blue-eyed devils” and Jews are “the synagogue of Satan.” Its leaders have received at least $364,500 in contracts and awards from the U.S. Bureau of Prisons and the Department of Justice between fiscal 2008 and fiscal 2019.
The funding was designed to provide “Nation of Islam religious services,” “Nation of Islam spiritual guide services,” “Nation of Islam study services,” and other related programming led by the organization’s leaders, according to Bureau of Prison records. The Nation of Islam has been labeled a hate group by the Anti-Defamation League and the Southern Poverty Law Center.

New Zealand’s Supreme Court to hear Dotcom extradition appeal
WELLINGTON (Reuters) - New Zealand' highest court on Thursday said it would hear an appeal from Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom, who is attempting to overturn a lower court's ruling that he can be extradited to the United States to face racketeering and copyright charges.
The Supreme Court said it had jurisdiction over the appeal and granted leave for the case to proceed, according to a statement on the court's website.
The six-year legal saga is widely seen as a test for how far the United States can reach globally to apply American firms' intellectual property rights.
The Court of Appeal in July upheld a lower court ruling in 2017 that the extradition could take place.
U.S. authorities say Dotcom and three co-accused Megaupload executives cost film studios and record companies more than $500 million and generated more than $175 million in revenue by encouraging paying users to store and share copyrighted material.

Malaysia Charges Another Ex-Goldman Sachs Banker Over 1MDB
KUALA LUMPUR—Malaysia on Dec. 19 charged a second former banker at Goldman Sachs Group Inc. in connection with a suspected money-laundering scheme at state fund 1MDB and said it had issued a summons to the bank.
Malaysia this week filed charges against Goldman Sachs in connection with its role as underwriter and arranger of bond sales that raised $6.5 billion for 1MDB, the first criminal action against the bank over 1MDB.
Tim Leissner, a former partner for Goldman Sachs in Asia, was also charged this week.
Goldman Sachs has consistently denied wrongdoing and on Dec. 17 said certain members of the former Malaysian government and 1MDB lied to the bank about the proceeds of the bond sales.
The U.S. Justice Department has estimated that a total of $4.5 billion was misappropriated by high-level 1MDB fund officials and their associates between 2009 and 2014, including some of the funds that Goldman Sachs helped raise.

As Bankers Detained in Danske Scandal, Denmark Urges No Clemency
As the first bankers in Europe’s biggest money laundering scandal get detained by police, the political demand is for a tough response targeting the perpetrators.
A total of 10 former employees of Danske Bank A/S in Estonia were apprehended over the course of Dec. 18 & 19. Estonian prosecutors suspect they deliberately helped criminals from the former Soviet Union launder money, for personal gain. In Denmark, where Danske is the biggest bank, the government made clear it’s not in favor of clemency.
There are few banks that appear to have been as central to the flows of suspicious funds from the former Soviet Union and into the West as Danske. Between 2007 and 2015, much of about $230 billion that gushed through a tiny Estonian branch was probably suspicious in origin, Danske’s management in Copenhagen admitted in September.

Top Journalist, Favorite of CNN, Outed as Fraud
A top German journalist who has been a favorite foreign correspondent on CNN has been outed as a career-long fraud who made up sources and invested situations for his “reporting.”
Claas Relotius is an award-winning journalist for German weekly Der Spiegel but now we know he has been fabricating stories for years.
Der Spiegel posted a long apology saying it was “shocked” by the revelations. The weekly apologized to readers as well as anyone who was a target of the “fraudulent quotes, made up personal details or invented scenes at fictitious places.”
For his part, Relotius, who has written for a long list of European and American news outlets, apologized for his years of fraud saying, “I am sick and I need to get help.”
