I think they're being forced into doing successive gigs, events, acts, endeavors that are just embarrassing or "off" enough to evoke a less-than-impressed reaction from the masses. Make them a little silly, clownish, baffoonish, demonstrate bad taste, etc. They didn't choose those official self-portraits.

Yes. I've come to think(ish) the same of HRC (b4) 11/8/16… and many other politicians/actors who've appeared to "fall on their own sword" not by accident or lacking judgment. I especially remember thinking this of the (D) Indiana Sentator who made the comments about the black and native American state employees of Indiana who "is black, but she's surprisingly good at her job" and "native American, but actually capable of doing the job" or similar language. It was so obvious that I was convinced it had to have been the result of having been given an ultimatum.
