Nine EU members steer clear of the UN Global Compact for Migration

The UN General Assembly formally ratified the UN deal on migration on Wednesday 19 December. Of the EU members, three voted against, five abstained and one didn’t vote. The United States and several other countries also did not support it.

It was ratified with the support of 152 countries in favour, five nations – the United States, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland and Israel voted against it. There was a total of twelve who abstained, Austria, Bulgaria, Italy, Latvia and Romania and Slovakia did not vote.

Hungary’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, asserted that the General Assembly was making a serious mistake ratifying “this unbalanced, biased and pro-migration document” stating that migration is “a dangerous phenomenon”. Mr. Szijjártó stressed that Hungary reserves the sovereign right to decide for themselves on migration and security measures.

Protests over rising prices spread to Sudan's Khartoum

At least one person has been killed in protests that have swept across Sudan on Thursday over the rising costs of bread and fuel.

According to Mubarak al-Nur, a member of parliament, the death came in the city of Gadarif, where a state of emergency has been declared due to the protests. A state of emergency has also been declared in Atbara, about 320km north of the capital Khartoum, after protesters set the ruling National Conference Party offices on fire.

Protests also spread to several other cities, including Khartoum and Port Sudan

Alwyn Stockdale, 81, admitted indecently assaulting the ten-year-old boy in his Buckingham Palace quarters as well as three offences of gross indecency against another boy at a relative’s home in the 1970’s

105 Immigrants, Including Pedophiles And MS-13, Arrested By ICE

105 illegal immigrants have been arrested during a raid in Jew Jersey, with pedophiles and MS-13 gang members among those arrested by ICE.

The criminals were arrested as part of a widespread Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation two weeks ago.

Breitbart.com reports: Four of the 105 illegal aliens had Interpol warrants, meaning they were wanted in other countries for violent crimes, drug charges, and fraud. At least four of the illegal aliens arrested were either convicted child sex offenders or convicted child abusers.

A handful of the illegal aliens arrested were members of gangs such as the El Salvadorian MS-13 Gang or the 18th Street Gang.

U.S. business borrowing for equipment rises 7 percent in November: ELFA

(Reuters) – U.S. companies’ borrowing to spend on capital investment rose 7 percent in November from a year ago, a trade group representing capital equipment lenders said on Wednesday.

The companies signed up for $8.0 billion in new loans, leases and lines of credit last month, up from $7.5 billion a year earlier. However, borrowings fell 10 percent from October, the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association (ELFA) said.

“November new business volume, although down from the prior month, is still in a very acceptable range, showing continued strength in capex spending,” ELFA Chief Executive Officer Ralph Petta said.

Alexa, Drop a Bomb': Amazon Wants in on US Warfare

Amazon is seeking to build a global "brain" for the Pentagon called JEDI, a weapon of unprecedented surveillance and killing power, a profoundly aggressive weapon that should not be allowed to be created.

Founded in 1994 as an online book seller, Amazon is now the world's largest online retailer, with more than 300 million customers worldwide, and net sales of $178 billion in 2017.

Amazon has built a vast, globally distributed data storage capacity and sophisticated artificial intelligence programs to propel its retail business that it hopes to use to win a $10 billion Pentagon contract to create the aforementioned "brain" that goes by the project name Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure, a moniker obviously concocted to yield the Star Wars acronym - JEDI.

As of the October 12, 2018, deadline for submitting proposals for JEDI, Amazon is the betting favorite for the contract, which will go to just one bidder, in spite of protests by competitors, chief among them Microsoft and IBM. The Pentagon appears likely to select a winner for the contract in 2019.
