No. I think it's just part of the daily war. He wasn't on a big mission or anything. Clowns just like to whack good guys when they can. I'm sure Q whacks their guys and we just don't know about it.
The number of military plane crashes is off the charts. The enemy is deeply engrained. I woudn't assume all big planes are safe.
