FWIW there is no person alive today that has prosecuted the running of this republic as it was done during the first 80 years.

The scaramucci/whitaker play is very effective at disrupting game plans if those plans have been tailored to certain parameters already. ie- whatever supposed weakness Mattis (or anyone else, for that matter) may or may not have had, has been removed from the board, and an unknown quantity has been put in it's place.
