Police Shoot Man in Little Rock Motel Parking Lot
LRPD officials say the man rammed a police car before officers opened fire.
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - A man is in critical condition after Little Rock Police Department (LRPD) officials say officers were forced to shoot him in a Little Rock motel parking lot.
The officer-involved shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. Thursday at the Motel 6 located at 10524 W. Markham.
Little Rock Police say officers were patrolling the parking lot after recent auto B&E's in the area when they noticed a suspicious vehicle.
LRPD Interim Chief Hayward Finks says that's when officers attempted a traffic stop.but the driver in the suspicious vehicle rammed a police car.
"There were two officers at the time of the shooting. They were in separate vehicles. Both officers, from my understanding, fired their weapons," says Interim Chief Finks.
No officers were injured in the incident and are on paid-administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
The man's name has not been released.
