Do they take all your credit card data? Can you use paypal? Do they charge you or not charge you immediately? Do they wait until the goal has been met until they charge you?
Because, if they wait until $1 Billion is reached, and there really isn't any chance that 1 Billion would be reached, then there really isn't any reason not to "pledge" more than you intend to give. It's more of a symbolic contribution than a real one.
And if people understand that it's not a real contribution, then it should be easy to break the go fund me record for the biggest contribution.
