That's why you must be "born again." It's not about intellect, it's about having a new spirit within you - the Spirit of God Himself. That's why Jesus says you must come as a little child - having the faith of a child, if you like, laying aside human wisdom and acquired knowledge and simply beleiving God is who He has revealed Himself to be and Jesus is His true image and the Saviour of humanity from the righteous wrath of God against evil/sin. If God did not punish evil he would be an unrighteous judge. But since in Adam ALL sinned (because ALL humanity is of Adam's seed) then through ONE sinless man/God - Jesus Chrsit who can truly represent both God and man, ALL who accept Jesus substitutionary atonement for sin are saved from God's righteous judgement and receive eternal life.
