I have spent some time in military acquisitions. It is governed by the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
The FAR is an abomination designed to weaken the DoD. It is literally a denial-of-service-attack. It drowns good ideas in a quagmire of never ending circular decision making processes and actually rewards bad behavior—all under the cover of “being accountable”.
Meanwhile deep state operations work outside the FAR…
I once asked a 2-star general why the Chinese can build an entire base in the South China Sea in 12 months but it takes me 12 months to get a contract change approved on a $2M project…we were at lunch and he said, “it will probably take another world war to fix the FAR”.
I hope it doesn’t come to that. Trump is deregulating superstar. I pray to God that he gets the FAR fixed for those of us trying to make the military agile and strong.
