Suspected Participant In 2015 Charlie Hebdo Attacks Arrested In Africa

A Jihadist suspected of participating in the 2015 Charlie Hebdo attacks in France has been taken into custody. According to international reports, 36-year-old Peter Cherif was arrested in Djibouti on Sunday and is awaiting transfer to France.
Cherif is also reportedly known as Abou Hamza, and was allegedly close to two men who carried out the attack.
French Defense Minister Florence Parly said the arrest was “good news,” and said when you stay committed and determined — this is the result.
“It’s great news because this terrorist played an important part in the planning of the attack against Charlie Hebdo, this shows the fight against terrorism is long-term endeavor,” stated Parly.
In the days after the attack, the assailants killed a police trainee and four hostages before being killed themselves.
A total of 20 people, including the assailants, died in the attack and following days.
