SYRIA – United States ambassador to the anti-Islamic State coalition Brett McGurk has resigned, two days after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that all U.S. troops in Syria would withdrawal, claiming victory over the militants and receiving much criticism.
McGurk follows in the footsteps of Defence Secretary Jim Mattis, who announced his resignation for February of next year on Friday, citing differences with Trump on foreign policy.
