Given the increase in tension's within the Ukraine, Trump pulling our military out of Syria is forcing Russia to expend resources on a larger split front now. If war was to break out in the Ukraine a request for assistance from the Ukrainians to the U.N. would happen and the U.S. would be expected to pick up the mantle in some form. The Syrian withdrawal could be anticipation of a Russia/ Ukraine war or a move advert one.
