I wonder if this is an inadvertent misspelling, or whether this is more twatter fuckery, auto-suggesting incorrectly spelled hashtags to try and suppress the real ones. Taking advantage of the fact that non-French speakers might not recognize if a French word is mis-spelled if it 'looks' French.

Should be #giletsjaunes (gilets is plural of gilet).
