Muslim leader who said polygamy is a civil right, demands “democratic representation” in Italian Government

Hamza Piccardo is one of Italy’s most prominent Muslim leaders. In the past he has claimed that “polygamy is our civil right” and now he has written to Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini requesting he “establish an electoral process leading to the election of a democratic representation of Italian Muslims.”

He is the founder of the Union of Italian Islamic Communities (UCOII) and is known for his assertion that Italians should not “undervalue polygamy’s demographic effect,” which he believes would help Italy’s low birthrate and the need for foreign workers and should be considered a civil right as much as gay marriage is.

So, now he is asking that Italian government to bring Islam into the political establishment: “Let the government organise a consultation that can bring order to Italian Islam, we are fed up with this anarchy”.

His perception is that “none of the organisations present in the territory significantly represents the soon to be three million Muslims in Italy, one million of whom are Italian citizens.”

The movement continues: Sixth consecutive weekend of yellow vest protests in Paris

The protests on Saturday were calm and respectable but as the day progressed things began to disintegrate as police officers began using force against the Yellow Vest protesters near the Montmartre district.

Protesters gathered near Madeleine Church, as well as near the Louvre Museum and Sacre-Coeur Basilica and later in the evening tried blocking traffic on the Champs Elysées. Riot police surrounded them in an attempt to disrupt the demonstrators.

Today’s demonstration yielded more than 100 being detained, according to the Paris Police Prefecture.

There were an estimated 23,800 protesters throughout the country, not bad for the Saturday before Christmas, with at least 2,000 of those in Paris.

A new Census report shows that this year, the hottest states in the country had the biggest gains in population. Haven't these people been listening to decades of warnings from climate change scientists about the myriad hazards of a warmer climate? Climate scientists have been endlessly shouting that a slightly warmer planet will unleash all sorts of terrible things — more heat-related deaths, more hurricanes and storms, more diseases, more drought and the like.

Environmentalism: A new Census report shows that this year, the hottest states in the country had the biggest gains in population. Haven’t these people been listening to decades of warnings from climate change scientists about the myriad hazards of a warmer climate?

According to Census data, the five states with the biggest gains in population this year are, in order: Texas, Florida, California, Arizona and North Carolina. What else do these states have in common? They are among the states with the highest average temperatures in the country. And the two biggest gainers — Texas and Florida — are the first and fourth hottest states, respectively, in the nation.

Meanwhile, of the nine states that lost population this year, six are in states with below-average temperatures. The biggest loser in the country is New York, which dropped by 48,000 this year. Its climate is 7 degrees colder than the national average.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has even blamed climate for the exodus. When asked why so many people have left New York, his response was that it is “climate based.”

This year’s census numbers aren’t an aberration, either.

From 2010 to 2017, a net of 2.2 million people moved to the five hottest states in the country.

Disgraced German reporter could face donation fraud charges

A German journalist who was found to have made up information for numerous articles may now be charged with allegedly soliciting donations for Syrian orphans from his readers.

The German magazine Der Spiegel said Sunday that its award-winning former reporter, Claas Relotius, had asked readers by email from his private account for donations to be transferred to his personal bank account.
