WH budget chief Mulvaney: Pelosi stalling negotiations; shutdown could last into 2019

Because Democrats politicize everything, it’s very likely that the current government shutdown could last into 2019, according to Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Mick Mulvaney, who is also the incoming Acting White House chief of staff.

In an interview with “Fox News Sunday,” Mulvaney said that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., who will likely reclaim the Speaker’s gavel in a few weeks, is intentionally stalling efforts to negotiate and resolve the partial shutdown, which began at midnight Saturday and affects one-quarter of the federal workforce.

Mulvaney also insisted that POTUS Donald Trump “refuses to go along to get along” and is not coming off his demands for $5 billion in border security funding that would include construction of a portion of his long-sought wall.

“It’s very possible this shutdown will go beyond the 28th and into the new Congress,” Mulvaney said, adding that federal workers will receive their pay through that date.

“I think there’s an implication here for Nancy Pelosi’s election for the speakership,” Mulvaney continued. “I think she’s now in that unfortunate position of being beholden to her Left wing, to where she cannot be seen as agreeing with the president on anything until after she’s Speaker.”

“This is what Washington looks like when you have a president who refuses to go along to get along,” Mulvaney told host Chris Wallace.
