the devil likes that symbol is one reason
the most Biblical explanation that I can find is in Genesis 3:4-6 when the serpent is enticing Eve to eat from the tree that God told them not to eat from. It is said that the tree was one that would impart wisdom (my words, not exactly how it is in the scripture) upon the person that eats the fruit
we're taught the owl is a symbol of wisdom
and so that is probably another reason the owl is used
and also (probably most notably) this
Alef Lamed, the false mother goddess
it's AL or OWL when you say it
God is the alef and tav, the alpha and omega, the A and the Z, the beginning and the end
the false mother goddess is the Alef Lamed
Lucifer is called heylel in the Hebrew in Isaiah 14:12. Heylel is a word spelled Alef-Lamed-Lamed in the original Hebrew of the Bible
