When I had heard that Huber was going to look into the matter as to whether or not a second special counsel was needed I was pretty alarmed. I'm a former police officer and been involved in public corruption and civil rights investigations the last 18 years. Last few years after the FBI knocked on my door and asked me for some information I have worked with several agents in the public corruption division in Salt Lake City. I was greatly frustrated as where the agents in how investigations were handled and Salt Lake City and how it was clear that the office was very political. Number of high-profile cases were dumped and agents reassigned. Huber wasn't Obama appointee who AG Sessions had asked to stay on under the Trump Administration. Why? This is a question that people I work with had asked, especially a Utah District Attorney that was Prosecuting a very high-profile case in Utah against a former Utah AG. The district attorney ended up dismissing the case after Huber refused to turn over the evidence for trial.
Then in another case that went to trial against the Utah or attorney general who resigned shortly before indictments for public corruption were issued was acquitted at trial because Huber refused to give immunity to a key witness that was already in federal prison. There was no reason to not give this witness immunity to testify as you'd already been convicted and was spending 11 years in prison.
