If you're referring to the 'vast reserves discovered in the Golan Heights' then I suspect we're right back to one of the main reasons the Syrian war is being fought - disputed ownership of said oil reserves.

No worries though, Anon! As US oil production and reserves increase, protecting the Middle East oil is no longer in the VITAL Interest of the US. (Vital interest are those so important to nation's well being that they defend militarily).

Times changed…initially (19 yrs ago?) we were protecting our own vital interests in the region, but evolved to being in Syria to aid allies. So now let me refer you to POTUS' quote from this morning (pic related)

So, I may be wrong, time will tell, but here's what I see:

1) Q directs us to WaPo Max Boot article Apr 19th re US troops in Syria & US role protecting Israel there

2) POTUS pulls US troops out of Syria (retaliation for Yemen/Saudi? too soon to know)

3) Mattis throws a tantrum and quits re: long-term relationships with allies

4) POTUS says (paraphrased) allies are great, but when they f#ck us over, POTUS will [counter] with proportionate and appropriate response

We don't know if Israel was behind the Khashoggi psyop. We don't know if pulling US troops out of Syria was to in response to Khashoggi psyop. But (IMO) Israel has (by far) the most to lose by US pulling out.
