What happens when you can no longer trust those elected to represent you?

Me personally? I do some muttering, post a negative comment or two somewhere on the internet, stop paying attention to politics, and then stop voting. I do these things instead of overthrowing the government because the US citizen really has had very little power except for one day every 2, 4, 6 years. That's when the banks and corporations have given us our right to vote so it looks like we are participating int he decision making processes. All the other days of the year it's corrupt government workers and banks and other corporations locked into an endless loop of self-benefit and making decisions without input from the citizens, with an exception once in a while to make people think they are part of the process too. Overthrowing or advocating for the overthrow of the US government is considered a crime, so I've stayed away from that kind of talk or action.
