If I had it to do over, I'd have treated "Santa" as just a fun story (start the critical thinking early). It was crushing to each of my kids to find out the truth (and that I'd lied to them)… then swore each one to secrecy so they wouldn't ruin the illusion for the younger ones. Smh. If I'd been honest, their Christmas wouldn't have suffered and when some other kid tried to pop their Santa bubble, they could have casually said "yeah, I been woke forever!"
