author narrowly escaped a betrayal murder. they figured out the crimes of both would be foist upon the one that wouldnt be able to speak. dead men tell no tales (nor do they object to another's account of events).
Instead once clued in to the plot, Author went and preemptively sauced next steps to some authority providing protection
(e.g. spacey did sex stuff but not cannibalism, but figured out he would be thrown under bus on account of both so went and stepped forward on the low tip).
They never thought to ask for proof of death. they never thought she would lose. these people are stupid…. but that doesnt narrow down who is the author and who is the audience.
