Should We Have "non-Essential" Government workers?

Government Contractors are also ripping us off!

“Essential and non-essential employees is a foreign concept to those of us who don't work for government given the simple truth that there's no such thing as a “non-essential” private sector employee. Businesses that retain “non-essential” employees are soon out of business, by definition."

About 420,000 federal employees who are deemed “essential” would continue to work through a shutdown, ensuring that critical operations in government would proceed unhindered. But these workers would not receive any compensation until the shutdown ends and lawmakers pass legislation to pay them retroactively.

According to the Office of Personnel Management, as of December 2011, there were approximately 2.79 million civil servants employed by the U.S. government.

2.79 million vs. 420,000 = 2.37 million of "non-essential employees?

Contracted labor (pic related) is paying $33-$43,000 for 12 hours a week for 6 months. So $33,000 for 288 hours = $114.00 per hour. Obviously they are being paid more by the Feds per employee than they are paying out.
