MSK operations are done on the 2nd and 6th Floor, so no operating would be done on the 17th floor. It doesn't work like that. You can't just operate on another floor, it takes years to construct an operating theatre complex. MSK have 28 operating rooms, doing 16,000 operations a year (according to their website) so about 2-3 per room per day. Not sure where the mention of 17th floor came from (can't find sauce).
Also, at this age her operation would have been done by minimally invasive surgery (robotic or thorascopic) so she would have been up and about the next day. Could easily attend court within 2 weeks. Any complications (e.g. pneumonia) much higher chance of being fatal than in a young person.
Therefore the news reports could well be true. The more suspect issue with RBG is how she is functioning after pancreatic and colorectal cancer - they have high mortality. I suppose if she has access to treatments that only the Steve Jobs of the world can access, then maybe.
Time is still ticking for her I guess.
