He also did not agree with Mattis at all and Mattis fought bitterly against Prince's plan being implemented in Afghanistan. POTUS wanted Erik's plan, Mattis and pentagon brass did not. They wanted to $$$$ to keep flowing for the war machine.
I am of the opinion that POTUS has been dealing with patriots who are compromised. It allowed DS to think they had at least SOME leverage on the person, but the person could only go so far into this battle with POTUS bc of said compromise.
