Morning anons….
Thought I would clear this up on the FDA and hemp. The FDA is the group that guards our consumer safety and provides protection against bad food products, supplements, natural products, cosmetics, and nicotine. Any new drug HAS to go thru FDA rigors to be considered a medicine. When it has gone thru these rigors a company can make claims about the "drug" and also sell it in the pharma/insurance world.
Anything that has NOT walked the FDA path of IND filings, clinical trials, and New Drug Applications will be harshly criticized by the FDA as a non-medicine and not really publicly safe. Further, if it has not gone thru FDA IND/NDA then you cannot say it does anything to the human body.
HEMP has not been thru the FDA/IND/NDA process. Epidolex has (synthetic hemp…). Someone could put hemp thru IND/NDA and prove its efficacy as a drug, however that money would be wasted as hemp is a natural product and no protections in place for the company that did so to benefit financially.
I have long said cannabis breaks the FDA…and it will..these are the first cracks…
Cannabis is a natural product that is a medicine…very obviously..and now we have 33 states CLAIMING it is a medicine…has to hurt the FDA badly as they cannot censur each state…
When the FDA breaks will cause a resurgence in natural products and herbal medicines. We have herbal products now that work VERY effectively..I just cannot tell you that or the FDA will beat me with a claim stick ;-)
