Lot's of instructions on the Internet. Put one under the bed for your phone. Keep older equipment or ham radios in the basement in a faraday cage made out of a big and a small steel garbage can (with some cardboard for insulator gaps.

Before using a microwave for a Faraday cage, I would pull the plug and tape the end to the door of the oven. Just to be sure that it won't be turned on with phones and tablets inside.
