Guided Missile Destroyer's Command Master Chief Fired

The command master chief of the guided missile destroyer Milius was relieved Friday due to "misconduct identified during an ongoing investigation," according to Navy officials.

Master Chief Petty Officer Jason Pick, who has served as the Arleigh Burke-class ship's CMC since May 2016, has been temporarily reassigned to Destroyer Squadron 15, according to Lt. Cmdr. Matt Knight, the public affairs officer for Commander Task Force 70.

A native of Pomona, California, Pick has served in the Navy for nearly 22 years. An airman by training, he has held a variety of positions onboard aircraft carriers, serving as a flight deck plane handler on the USS Carl Vinson; an aircraft director and bay petty officer on the USS Abraham Lincoln; and air department leading petty officer on the Ronald Reagan. In 2004, he was named the Center of Naval Engineering's Instructor of the Year.

Knight said that, with an investigation underway, he could not provide further details on the relief, which occurred Friday morning in Yokosuka, Japan, by order of Task Force 70 commander Rear Adm. Karl Thomas.

Destroyer Squadron 15 Command Master Chief Micky Jones will assume temporary duty as the Milius' command master chief, Knight said.

Mulvaney: $5B Border Wall Demand 'Came Down,' But Dems Still Walked Away

WASHINGTON – Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney told reporters today that the White House has backed down from its $5 billion demand for a border wall, offering a lower number to Democrats last weekend.

No votes were scheduled this week in the House or Senate as congressional leaders agreed to not bring a bill to the floor unless it was agreed to between Democrats and President Trump.

Until then, the partial government shutdown – affecting departments whose appropriations bills weren't passed, including Homeland Security – that went into effect before Christmas as a result of the stalemate over Trump's border-wall funding demand remains.

Trump has been venting on Twitter. "Have the Democrats finally realized that we desperately need Border Security and a Wall on the Southern Border. Need to stop Drugs, Human Trafficking,Gang Members & Criminals from coming into our Country. Do the Dems realize that most of the people not getting paid are Democrats?" he said Thursday.

"We will be forced to close the Southern Border entirely if the Obstructionist Democrats do not give us the money to finish the Wall & also change the ridiculous immigration laws that our Country is saddled with. Hard to believe there was a Congress & President who would approve!" Trump added today.

Mulvaney said Trump is willing to shut down the border, despite the economic hit as $558 billion worth of goods flowed across the border last year, because "all options are on the table" and "it's the only way we can get the Democrats' attention."

Vice President Mike Pence and Mulvaney met with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Saturday, and "came down off of our $5 billion offer," the OMB director said. The Senate bill contains $1.3 billion for border security excluding any concrete wall.

Current fencing has been renovated or upgraded with steel bollard fencing, which Trump refers to as the "steel slats" and has indicated would be acceptable in place of the concrete prototypes the administration has been considering.

California- Illegal Alien Cop Killer Wanted in Manhunt ARRESTED

The seemingly endless manhunt for the illegal alien wanted in the shooting death of 33-year-old officer Ronil Singh has come to an end near the Bakersfield, California area, after police nabbed their perpetrator.

Authorities were looking for the man who was seen in surveillance photos at a convenience store shortly before Cpl. Ronil Singh was killed.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office says they plan to hold a press conference to announce “significant developments” alongside the Kern County Sheriff's Office, where the arrest was made nearly 180 miles away from the homicide.

A pickup truck which was being driven by the suspect after he killed Officer Ronil was found on Wednesday at a trailer park in Newman, California was registered to Conrado Virgen Mendoza, the illegal alien believed responsible for the homicide.
