Election in the Congo today

Close to 40m people are eligible to vote in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where President Joseph Kabila - in power since 2001 - is standing down.

But the run-up has been hit by violence and controversy over the decision to exclude almost 1.3m people from voting.

On Saturday, rival candidates also failed to agree on a statement aimed at reducing tension before the poll.

Voting began at 05:00 (04:00 GMT) and ends at 17:00.

If everything passes without incident, this will be the first peaceful transition in DR Congo since it gained independence from Belgium in 1960.

The current president, Joseph Kabila, took over from his assassinated father Laurent in 2001, but he is barred from running for another term under the constitution.

Don't know much about the Congo, but I know their President Joesph Kabila is a Clinton Loyalist. I know Congo has a lot of Uranium. I know China is up in the mix to. Don't really know who /ourguy/ is. But it looks like one of the candidates Emmanuel Ramazani Shadary is Kabila's guy, which means he is a cabal player.

Seems like if this Shadary guy wins, the people are ready to revolt. They feel like the only way he can win an election is if the election is rigged. Already heavy signs of rigging with burnongivoting machines, and other fuckery. Newest fuckery is in three districts ebola has supposedly popped up. Therefore no voting in those districts. The districts say there is no ebola, and the ebola excuse is concocted by the government to disenfranchise them due to these districts being against this Shadary guy.

"In an interview with The Associated Press, President Joseph Kabila contradicted his own health officials and experts with the World Health Organization who have said precautions were taken in collaboration with electoral authorities so people could vote."

Whatever the case, looks like some happenings going on in the Congo, and as stated before, this country has deep Clinton, Chinese, and Uranium ties.
