The European Parliamentary elections are in May 2019. This year, more than previous MEP elections is likely to be profoundly consequential with a turnout that has not been previously seen.

According to the Financial Times, it will be a showdown between the beleaguered French President Emmanuel Macron and the man voted by his own people as the most trusted and popular politician in history, Italy’s Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Matteo Salvini. Mr. Salvini was already popular with Italian voters, but when he stood up to Brussels over his ‘Italian’s first’ budget, the people of Italy only grew to love him more. In fact, in recent polls the Italian people said they see him as the real leader of Italy, even over the Prime Minister.

The populist Minister Salvini has challenged the outgoing French President Emmanuel Macron’s pro-European agenda which interferes with individual countries’ sovereignty.

Former Dojo Pizza Owner Found Guilty on Federal Child Sex Charges

St. Louis, MO – After an eleven-day bench trial in May, U.S. District Court Judge Audrey Fleissig returned guilty verdicts on eight counts, involving four victims, relating to child exploitation and child pornography produced and possessed by Loren “Sensei” Copp, former owner of Dojo Pizza located at 4601 Morganford Road.

According to testimony at trial, Copp held himself out to be a trusted member of the community as a youth pastor, community activist, martial arts instructor, and business owner. He used these positions to gain the trust of parents to gain access to their children. For several years defendant Copp groomed and sexually abused two minor females who had been in his custody since 2009. The grooming process began when defendant Copp began touching the victims’ buttocks while playing “the butt game,” which then led to him touching their vaginas and breasts. Eventually, Copp began having sex with both girls, and he would record the sex acts with a cell phone or video recorder. While at the Dojo Pizza property, Copp would have sex with each girl multiple times a week, and while there he took pornographic pictures of one victim’s genitals and breasts. Copp would also watch pornography with one of the victims in his office at the Dojo Pizza property.

China launches appeal court for intellectual property right disputes

China’s first ever appeal court for intellectual property disputes – a major bone of contention in the ongoing trade war with the US – will open for business in Beijing on Tuesday, the nation’s top court said on Saturday.

The new body would handle cases that demanded “highly technical expertise”, Luo Dongchuan, vice-president of the Supreme People’s Court, which established the new body, told a press conference in the Chinese capital.

The creation of the appeal court was the latest effort to protect intellectual property rights, inspire innovation and improve the business environment, said Luo, who will oversee its operations.

Kim calls for more Korea talks with Moon in new year

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has sent a letter to South Korean President Moon Jae-in asking for talks in the new year, according to Moon's office.

The Blue House said that Kim expressed regret that he couldn't make a planned visit to Seoul, South Korea's capital, by the end of December, as pledged by the leaders during their last summit in September in the North Korean capital, Pyongyang.

"Chairman Kim expressed a strong willingness to visit Seoul as he monitors the situation," South Korean Presidential Spokesman Kim Eui-kyeom told reporters in a televised briefing on Sunday.

Syrian troops enter key Kurdish city in wake of Trump’s decision to withdraw US troops

Syrian army units on Friday were reported to have entered Manbij, a Kurdish-controlled city that has become a major flashpoint in the country’s civil war and an operating base for hundreds of U.S. troops.

The government’s entry came at the request of Kurdish militias, who were concerned about the imminent threat of attack by Turkey in the wake of President Donald Trump’s abrupt order last week to withdraw all U.S. troops from Syria.

In a televised address Friday morning, Syrian military spokesman Brig. Gen. Ali Mayhoub announced “the entry of units of the Syrian Arab Army to Manbij city and the hoisting of the Syrian Arab flag.”

The move, he said, was in response to calls from locals in the city.

Manbij, some 20 miles from Syria’s northern border with Turkey, has become a strategic prize for powers competing over Syria’s contested northern region, including Turkey, the U.S., the Kurds as well as the Syrian government itself.
