In the military there's the fire for effect tactic. Lob a shell into the trees and see what falls out. Also when Q rattles their cage it they use their comm's more allowing Q to gather more intel. When they panic they're more likely to make mistakes too. It's hard to be patient, but playing the Game properly and thoroughly takes time.
