Are you sure it was a freckle, or could it have been a mole? It looks and sounds like an infected mole. Bacteria from your skin and fingernails got in there when you scratched it and opened it. Don't pop it or scratch it any more. You will likely need prescription antibiotics for this. It doesn't look like more than a benign infection. You should consider having it removed by a dermatologist.
