Equity's are going to gap up today because this is the final YE print day. This will determine the final bonus pools for wall st.
The 'print' is only thing that matters to them.
This is what shows up on your statements when you get them in about 10-12 days.
As long as they can show a gain by this date the bonus money will be locked.
Markets could nose dive starting with weds session and continue to drop going forward but the bonus pools still get paid based on today's print no matter what.
They do this every year without fail.
