Have processed and encapsulated a couple placentas.

Did 2 methods, traditional Chinese (ginger, peppers and other spices part of steaming), with placenta material wrapped up on the membrane.

Also just cut and dried then ground and encapsulated.

The mother saves the capsules in the freezer, for years even.

Can also make a tincture with the dried placenta that is said to be stable for many years.

Whether it's a 'real' help for post-partum depression or not, if it's a strong Placenta-Placebo, with a positive shift for the mum, that's good enough for me.

Agree, a very personal act.

I struggle a bit even with the outsourcing of the processing, but understand this isn't for everyone.

Was slightly squeemish doing the processing, but it was also a form of connection to the birth, and am glad to have helped.

Understood anon. But also look from the mother's perspective, and it being her own organ, that her body grew along with the baby.

Interesting, that the placenta is the only single-use organ generated by the body.

Also, the placenta tells quite a story about the gestation. A midwife held up a placenta and pointed out many features one time. She indicated she can see in an instant if the mother was using drugs / opioids.

Also, put the umbilical cords from children in the deep-freeze as well, in the event that the stem cells are of use to the children in 20 years or so.

Of course, the cords have almost no blood in them, as with delayed cord-clamp, the pulsing is complete and all blood / oxygen / hormones is sent into the infant, final shot of nourishment.

It's terrible what is done with rapid clamping in the traditional medical community, that's savage - pulling away critical oxygenated blood at an incredibly critical moment for the baby, just as it is taking its first breaths with the lungs.

Finally, for all you bewb fanatics - there is the idea of letting the infant do the 'breast crawl', and finding its way to the nipple.

  • btw, mothers that got an amnio - their babies can't do the breast crawl, because they're too DRUGGED up after the birth. Sad.

Not suggesting anything anon. Other than that encapsulated placenta can be beneficial for a post-partum mother, for whatever reason(s).

Have you ever licked a cut, a bloody finger? You're guilty! kek.
