STORAGE UNIT 3013 MENTIONED IN MANAFORT CASE

 

Paul Manafort associate gave FBI agent access to ex-Trump campaign chairman's storage unit [3013]

 

According to the filing, Manfort’s attorneys are requesting the evidence found in the storage unit not be used against him, because the employee was not authorized to permit the FBI access to the unit. As a result, Manafort’s attorney claim his Fourth Amendment rights were violated.

 

The filing also includes a redacted affidavit from May 2017 showing the former employee provided the FBI agent a “key to the lock on Unit 3013 and described the contents of Unit 3013.” Additionally, the former employee also provided the FBI agent “written consent” to access the contents of the storage unit.

 

The storage unit contained information including expenses, paid bills, invoices, and legal complaints. Furthermore, one box said it contained “Ukraine Binders,” according to the Daily Beast.

The agent reports that “[w]ithout

opening any boxes or filing cabinet drawers,” he observed “approximately 21 bankers’ boxes that

could contain documents, as well as a five-drawer metal filing cabinet” inside the unit. Id. None

of the file drawers were marked as to their contents, but some of the boxes bore labels such as

“Admin,” with subcategories including “Tax Returns,” and “Box 12 Ukraine Binders,” including

subcategories such as “Surrogates,” “Political,” and “Media,” which led the agent to conclude that

they contained information related to, among other things, taxes, finances, and international

activities connected to Ukraine and a company called Manhattan Productions International, in

which defendant has a stake.
