The DoD does not use 'young interns' to manage their social media messaging…rather, highly trained "Public Relations" experts develop content consistent with the current "Strategic Talking Points" set forth by the DoD/Service/Major Command.

Public relations is their career field - it's what they do, it's all they do - 24/7/365. To be working at a Command Headquarters, they would probably have to be very experienced, and very sharp - not likely a newbie.

Strategic Command controls a preponderance of nuclear weapons and have always been very, very careful to downplay the use of weaponry (misunderstood messaging could trigger increased military response from enemies, aka war) … so their messaging is all about Preparedness, Readiness, Ensuring Peace, Peace is our Profession, etc.

Likely options?: 1) Career-ending mis-step of a soldier/airman and perhaps their boss, or 2) Purposeful messaging…message delivered …cleanup op (remove and apologize). I suppose future proves the past…we'll find out soon enough.

"Mine is bigger"

"I beg your pardon?"

"My MOAB … it's much, much bigger than your (girly-looking) crystal ball"
