There was no CGI when I first saw the film. We didn't even have personal computers in those days, or internet. I worked on a mini mainframe with tape drives that ran at 8 hz. I always thought the film was fake, but the eyes blinking stop me every time. Puppetry wasn't that good, we had no robotics. If you youngsters could ever get a handle on how very far we've come in such a short time it would blow you away.
