Those tracts were written to sincerely reflect their ambition to become a global hegemon. Don't think its a joke for 1 second. However, I familiar with these matters.

1. Dont too much stock in their lofty goals of taking Taiwan / Formosa by 2020. That's long standing beef: see the Rep. of China in Taiwan still has the mandate of Heaven. The commies never fully defeated the ruling party in battle so they want the island AND its people to rule over and gloat to. The undertaking of an amphibious assault would require months of troop positioning and would be made known well in advance, so suprise is out the question. The mainland may have volleys of missiles along the coast ready to go, but they also want the infrastructure on the island. That requires a beachhead in conjunction with airborne ops to simultaneously take control of airports.

Granted last time I checked a decade ago we were shrugging our obligation to arm the island and I am sire the Patriot batteries are getting old. But at that time, they also figured out to to manufacture an f-16 knock off without dependence on purchases from us: its called the IDF or indigenous Defense Fighter if I recall.

In addition to settling that matter of the mandate, another reason they want the island is because without it, prolonged operations in the Pacific are unsustainable. ergo without the island they have to keep with the unconventional and asymmetrical methods of espionage and container ships modified to camo military platforms that they intend to get close to our shores.
