Whooping cough rates are increased because of the Whooping cough vaccine, anon.
The vaccine (pertussis) doesn't prevent transmission of pertussis, it just reduces symptoms. Sounds ok and all, except that we have this natural defense mechanism from spreading disease: cough.
Grandma and Grandpa don't go to visit baby when they KNOW they're sick.
Add to that the fact they're more likely to get sick when the vaccine temporarily compromises their immune system, and that they just got the stupid fucking shot because they were planning to visit and that's what the doc told them to do, and it looks about identical to every other major mistake committed daily by the scientists and doctors we trust. Starting to wonder how many of these accidental mistakes are really accidental?
“This disease is back because we didn’t really understand how our immune defenses against whooping cough worked, and did not understand how the vaccines needed to work to prevent it,” said Dr. Christopher J. Gill, associate professor of global health at BUSPH and lead author of the article. “Instead we layered assumptions upon assumptions, and now find ourselves in the uncomfortable position of admitting that we may made some crucial errors. This is definitely not where we thought we’d be in 2017.”
