People who have public reputations often find themselves making "tough decisions" for the sake of their reputation. When someone points this out as being a compromise of their values - they can get a little sore.
Pamphlet anon was one such person, and for some reason that made sense to him, he decided to try and claim he and his buddies created Q.
Interestingly, a number of "normie research" groups have bought the claim and by my assessment have spent considerable time working out just who they feel is involved. That's the whole "threat of doxxing Q team" deal that is going on.
Things got real after Syria, and now they are trying to leverage a dox against who they think Q is in order to figure out what is going on. Since some who are suspected are military veterans, it's thought that they must still have sway in the military community and may even have a tie-in to POTUS.
Perhaps that is, ultimately, why pamphlet and company made the claims - but I think it ultimately boils down more to satisfying the law of averages. Someone had to assume the position of "We're Q and were just fucking with everyone" - and pamplet's crew was the group to roger up. His reasons for it were likely a poorly thought-through retaliation against Q because they got their dick slapped. Or thought they did.
