My guess is that Q was "disinforming" us, deliberately.
Notice that if someone had asked "Is Elvis alive?", Q would probably ignored the question, is being unrelated nonsense.
But the question about JFK Jr was quite relevant. However, until JFK Jr is ready to announce that he is still alive and well, there is no answer that Q could give to such a question other than to say that "No", JFK Jr is not alive.

P.S. – Or if Q had answered such a question about Elvis (Presley), the truthful answer would have been more along the lines of "hell if I know."
