Trust your gut on this one. .22LR starts out, at the muzzle, with ~140FPE (foot pounds of energy), and the bullets usually weighs less than 45gr.
Simple math shows a trajectory like artillery (at 1500 yrds), and almost no energy left at impact. Add trans-sonic destabilization, and the odds of hitting anything are nil (although "miracles" do happen).
Let's put it this way: If I was having a beer on my porch, and saw you shooting at me under those conditions… I'd finish it (at risk of being bruised), then go get my .300 WinMag.
