Austria Withdraws Support from EU Army Project

Austria’s defence minister has said his nation will not be involved in the developing pan-European army, a pet project of leading globalists like Germany’s Angela Merkel and France’s Emmanuel Macron, saying the continent should concentrate on cooperation, not integration.

The comments from populist-right Freedom Party defence minister Mario Kunasek comes just weeks after French president Macron caused concerns among NATO allies by calling for a EU army to protect the continent from the United States, among other identified threats.

Speaking with the Austria Press Agency about achievements made by Austria during its now-completed possession of the rotating EU presidency and the future of European defence, Kunasek said Austria could not be part of a single EU army with a “command, a uniform, a leadership.”

Indeed, if the EU pushed through a single army regardless Austria would not “play” along, Kunasek saying the nation “will not be there.”

Europe needs “security and defence policy worthy of the name. But that is not comparable to a EU army… What we do not need is a large, closed formation of an army, but more cooperation,” said Kunasek.

Instead of integrating European armed forces into a single body, European leaders should look to cooperate more and utilise what strong defence structures already exist — such as NATO.

The minister said: “We all say yes to good, common structures, joint missions, joint exercises, cooperation and joint financing fund, but no to an EU army, as the citizen may imagine.”

“Many EU countries are NATO members. It would be illogical to build duplication. There will be strong cooperation with NATO in the future, but if we are serious about the EU, we need to think about common defence.”

Brazil’s new President vows to fight “Marxist garbage” and “climate change hoax”

On New Year’s Day, Brazil’s new president, Jair Bolsonaro, was sworn in – and he started his presidency with a bang.

One of his main goals is to fight the “Marxist garbage” that has installed itself in educational institutions, Samhällsnytt reports.

If any values are to be taught in schools alongside the subject knowledge, then it’s traditional family values, the newly appointed Minister of Education Ricardo Vélez has stated.

Brazil’s hosting of the UN climate summit in 2019 has been canceled – because the president believes that the doomsday climate change warnings are exaggerated and propaganda from the global left and cultural Marxists.

As we reported earlier he has promised to make the process short with the criminal gangs that plague the country.

Police have been instructed to shoot to kill in confrontations with armed gang criminals, and in Rio de Janeiro, snipers will be deployed to eliminate violent street criminals, and all law-abiding Brazilian citizens will have the right to carry weapons to protect themselves.

Bolsonaro also wants to strengthen the ties to Trump and has announced that he will follow the US example and move Brazil’s embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

Many of the ministers appointed by Bolsonaro, like he himself, have a military past. Only two of the new ministers are women.

Judge Sergio Moro has been appointed as Minister of Justice. It was he who sentenced former President Lula da Silva to twelve years in prison for corruption.

Bolsonaro gets off to a good start as president in terms of public opinion. 75 per cent of Brazilians believe that the new Government’s path is the right way to go.

Several State leaders, including Viktor Orbán and Benjamin Netanyahu of Hungary and Israel, attended the inauguration ceremony to honour Bolsonaro.

Six Killed in Denmark Railway Bridge Passenger Train Collision

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) – A passenger train on a bridge linking central Denmark’s islands hit an “unknown object” early Wednesday, killing six people and injuring 16 others, Danish police said.

12:40 p.m.

Danish police is suggesting that one possible cause of the train accident that killed six and injured 16 others was that cargo from a passing freight train fell off and hit a passenger train.

Police spokesman Lars Braemhoej added there was “considerable damage” on the passenger train, but “we do not know precisely what caused the accident.”

Police declined to comment on a report by Denmark’s TV2 channel that a container had likely fallen off the cargo train.

Braemhoej said Wednesday that the accident occurred on road-and-rail bridge that is part of the link between the island of Funen and Zealand where Copenhagen is located.

Neighbourhoods in Brussels out of control: Emergency services tricked and attacked

Firemen in Brussels had to flee from youths in the multicultural suburb of Molenbeek several times. The fire brigade’s union is “sick of it”, Belgian newspaper HLN reports.

During New Year’s Eve the fire brigade were attacked with stones and fireworks and a house burned to the ground as firemen had to wait for police protection.

“It’s the same situation at Zwarte Vijvers [Molenbeek] every year, Eric Labourdette of the labour union says. “They call us to report small fires and then attack us when we want to help,” he says.

According to Labourdette, the situation in the neighbourhood is out of control, is “youths were plundering shops and no control is possible”.

“Totally unacceptable”, regional Interior Minister Pieter de Crem said about the dangerous situation for emergency services to work in the area.

The Minister calls for a crackdown by the police to prevent the formation of no-go areas in the neighbourhoods.

“Brussels should have planned more carefully for the eventuality of such incidents, given the fact that similar problems occurred in the past,” De Crem said.

Rep. Matt Gaetz Blasts Democrats For Lobbying on Behalf of Illegal Aliens Instead of American Citizens (VIDEO)

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) blasted the Democrats on Wednesday for negotiating on behalf of illegal aliens instead of American citizens.

Appearing on Fox News, Gaetz discussed the government shutdown, which has now entered day twelve.

“What the president is not willing to compromise on are the outcomes,” Gaetz told Fox News. “I think he is willing to negotiate inputs, whether it’s more or less wall, more or less fencing, or slats, or drones or technology. What he is not going to compromise on is the safety of the American family or the protection of the American economy that’s needed.”

Gaetz explained that he knows who President Trump is working for — but that he can’t say the same about the Democrats.

“I don’t really who Democrats are negotiating for. I mean, are they really negotiating for illegal immigrants,” he asked.

Prior to the shutdown, Gaetz appeared on ‘Justice with Judge Jeanine’ and urged Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to use the nuclear option to get border security funding.

“We’re going to have real border security or we’re going to have a long shutdown, Judge,” Gaetz said at the time.

Former NY Times editor rips Trump coverage as biased

A former executive editor of the New York Times says the paper’s news pages, the home of its straight-news coverage, have become “unmistakably anti-Trump.”

Jill Abramson, the veteran journalist who led the newspaper from 2011 to 2014, says the Times has a financial incentive to bash the president and that the imbalance is helping to erode its credibility.

In a soon-to-be published book, “Merchants of Truth,” that casts a skeptical eye on the news business, Abramson defends the Times in some ways but offers some harsh words for her successor, Dean Baquet. And Abramson, who was the paper’s only female executive editor until her firing, invoked Steve Bannon’s slam that in the Trump era the mainstream media have become the “opposition party.”

“Though Baquet said publicly he didn’t want the Times to be the opposition party, his news pages were unmistakably anti-Trump,” Abramson writes, adding that she believes the same is true of the Washington Post. “Some headlines contained raw opinion, as did some of the stories that were labeled as news analysis.”

What’s more, she says, citing legendary 20th century publisher Adolph Ochs, “the more anti-Trump the Times was perceived to be, the more it was mistrusted for being biased. Ochs’s vow to cover the news without fear or favor sounded like an impossible promise in such a polarized environment.”

Abramson describes a generational split at the Times, with younger staffers, many of them in digital jobs, favoring an unrestrained assault on the presidency. “The more ‘woke’ staff thought that urgent times called for urgent measures; the dangers of Trump’s presidency obviated the old standards,” she writes.

Trump claims he is keeping the “failing” Times in business—an obvious exaggeration—but the former editor acknowledges a “Trump bump” that saw digital subscriptions during his first six months in office jump by 600,000, to more than 2 million.

Finland Leader Attacks ‘Hate Speech’ Against Foreign Child Sex Abusers

Finland’s prime minister has used a New Year’s address to demand citizens refrain from “disseminating hate speech” in the wake of investigations into a foreign rape gang preying on young girls.

Juha Sipilä referred to recent events in Oulu, where police have identified 10 foreign suspects in connection with cases involving grooming, sexual abuse, and violence against children as young as ten as he warned Finns not to “stir up hatred” against migrants.

While acknowledging the incidents had “provoked shock and anger” across the country, the prime minister insisted “it should be emphasised that the suspected crimes were committed by individuals, not by population groups”.

Trump: If We Win Daca Case, We’ll be Able to Ink Deal on ‘Dreamers’, Border Wall

President Trump has been deadlocked in negotiations with the Democrats and some Republicans over plans to spend $5 billion on the construction of a border wall along the US-Mexico border; the standoff has led to the partial shutdown of the federal government.

On Wednesday, Donald Trump said that US Immigration and Border Patrol officials will make a plea backing the wall at a White House meeting with lawmakers. The US president stressed that he is willing to keep working on the legal status for so-called Dreamers.

The president stressed that “if we win Daca case, we’ll be able to make a deal easily on Dreamers and the wall.”

Trump has been a fierce opponent of DACA, an Obama-era program temporarily protecting undocumented child migrants upon their arrival in the US. The children who are eligible for the program have been called Dreamers. By the time Trump announced his decision to renounce the program in September 2017, 787,580 had been granted approval under DACA.

The statement comes in the wake of an anticipated meeting of congressional leaders at the White House, devoted to border security, where the leaders of the two major parties and chambers of Congress will be present. This is expected to be the first time Trump will meet Democratic leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer in over three weeks.

The confrontation over the cost of the border wall led to the partial shutdown of the US government at the end of December. Trump is still demanding $5 billion in funding for the construction of the wall, which he believes will stem the flow of illegal immigrants from the south.

The sweeping majority of the Democrats and some Republicans are opposed to granting the vast amount of money for the president's project, citing Trump’s earlier pledge to make Mexico pay for the endeavour.

Retired US Colonel: Israel Is Dragging the United States Into World War III

Lawrence Wilkerson, a retired army colonel who now teaches at Washington-area universities, didn’t hold back in his critique of where the status quo is leading the United States via its client state, Israel.

Israel is in the process of plunging America into a war with Iran that could destroy what’s left of the Middle East and ignite a third world war, Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, former chief of staff to Secretary of State Colin Powell, warned in Washington approximately a week ago.

Wilkerson, a retired army colonel who now teaches at Washington-area universities, didn’t hold back in his critique of where the status quo is leading the United States via its client state, Israel.

At the annual Israel lobby conference at the National Press Club, sponsored by the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs and Institute for Research: Middle East Policy, Wilkerson explained that Israel is headed toward “a massive confrontation with the various powers arrayed against it, a confrontation that will suck America in and perhaps terminate the experiment that is Israel and do irreparable damage to the empire that America has become.”

One of the principal antagonists begging for a war with Iran that Wilkerson identified was none other than Avigdor Lieberman, Israel’s Russian-born Defense Minister. Wilkerson stated:

Lieberman will speak in April in New York City at the annual conference of the Jerusalem Post. The title is, ‘The New War with Iran.’ It is clear that he’s [at] the forefront of promoting this war.

And nowhere does my concern about such a war focus more acutely at the moment than Syria. As [the] president of France Emmanuel Macron described it recently, ‘The current rhetoric of the U.S., Saudi Arabia, and Israel is pushing the region toward conflict with Iran.’”

Despite Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s incessant denigrations of Iran, including claiming the greatest danger facing the Jewish state is the Islamic republic — a country he accuses of fanning the flames of anti-Semitism — Wilkerson blew these accusations out of the park using simple logic. He said:

This antisemitism bit, of course, as we’ve heard today, is almost always a weapon of choice for Israeli politicians under stress hurled, in this case, at the country whose Jewish population — by the way, the largest in the Middle East outside of Turkey and Israel — lives in Iran in reasonable peace.”

He continued:

And don’t forget that these words were uttered by the man who, as we’ve heard today, is doing everything he can to expel dark-skinned African refugees largely from Eritrea and Sudan from Israel, where most have come as legitimate refugees.”

Wilkerson highlighted the hypocrisy of Netanyahu and his cohorts in more ways than one. For example, Wilkerson referred to Netanyahu’s grandiose speech at the Munich Security Conference in which he directly challenged Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif while holding remnants of a drone allegedly downed over Israeli airspace. Israel claimed the drone was Iranian-manufactured. Wilkerson noted that in response, Iran found itself being rescued by Lebanon’s Defense Minister, who said he had an Israeli drone over his head virtually 24 hours a day.

US Army Continues Sending Military Hardware to Eastern Syria After Pullout Call

The US army dispatched a new convoy, including several trucks loaded with military and logistic equipment, to al-Shadadi base in Southern Hasaka via Simalka border-crossing at Iraq-Syria border.

In the meantime, a field source disclosed that a sum of 20 US military trucks entered Ein Issa base in Northern Raqqa on Sunday, adding that the trucks were handed over to the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The US is trying to continue providing the SDF with arms and ammunition after the country's decision to pull forces out of the war-hit country.

Meanwhile, US Senator Lindsey Graham has called on Trump to devaluate his decision over withdrawal from Syria.

The militant-affiliated Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on Sunday that a long convoy of almost 200 US army trucks, carrying weapons, munitions and logistical equipment, left the US bases in Iraq on Saturday and arrived in coalition bases in Raqqa, Manbij and Ein Issa in Northeastern Syria.

In the meantime, the Kurdish militia reported that the trucks arrived in the town of Amouda and left then for the US-run bases in Northeastern Syria, adding that the arms and ammunition cargo is to be delivered to the SDF.

The convoy arrived after the US military decided to withdraw from Syria but leave the SDF armed in the region.

The White House plan to withdraw 2,000 American troops from Syria has been put on hold, Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, a critic of President Donald Trump's recent Syria policy, said, adding that the president has agreed to reevaluate his policy.

Graham suggested Sunday Trump now better understands the stakes in Syria and has agreed to reevaluate, for now, his plans to immediately withdraw all US troops from the war-torn country.

After a lunch with Trump, Graham said outside the White House that talks about removing military personnel from the country are in a "pause situation", adding that, still, Trump remains committed to bringing American soldiers and women home, even as he continues to weigh the greater regional dynamics.

"We talked about Syria and he told me some things I didn’t know that made me feel a lot better about where we’re headed in Syria," Graham told reporters.

"I think we're slowing things down in a smart way," the Republican senator told reporters, stating that "but the goal has always been the same. To be able to leave Syria and make sure ISIS (ISIL or Daesh) never comes back".

Graham announced that Trump was "thinking long and hard about Syria and how to withdraw the forces" after ensuring that Daesh is destroyed, that Washington-allied Kurdish fighers are protected and that "Iran doesn't become the big winner of our leaving".

When Trump tweeted that "we have defeated" Daesh in Syria, several military and security experts stressed that he was overstating the case, and warned against a hasty withdrawal.

Speaking to CNN after his appearance in the White House driveway, Graham said he didn't mean to suggest that Trump is pausing troop withdrawal altogether.

"He has not reversed his decision" to withdraw troops from the Middle Eastern country, Graham stated, adding that "the pause is to assess the effects of the conditions on the ground".

The White House did not clarify whether Trump had come to a new determination about the Syria withdrawal plans, which drew widespread criticism when they were first announced earlier this month.

Graham, who has emerged as one of Trump's closest allies on Capitol Hill, had criticized him on the decision to withdraw troops, warning that Daesh is not fully defeated and that US adversaries like Russia would benefit from the choice. In the wake of the announcement, Graham issued a scathing statement in which he denounced the decision as “a Barack Obama-like mistake made by the Trump Administration".

Trump’s decision to pull the troops out of Syria has been appalling not just to the US allies, including in the Middle East, but also to the members of the US Congress. Some influential senators of both parties have opposed Trump’s policy. Graham and many other Republican and Democratic lawmakers have warned that pulling out of Syria would pose jeopardize the region with instability.
