Child Psychologist Molests Preteen Girl Posts Assault Online

The head of a mental health and therapy firm in downtown Atlanta violated his medical oath by molesting at least one girl and posting recordings of the assault online.

Police say, Jonathan Gersh, 37, was arrested Valentine's Day and has been in jail since without bond on several felony charges of child molestation and child pornography. Police also believe there are likely more victims considering his job put him in close proximity with children daily.

Homeland Security agents contacted Cobb detectives on February 6 about a possible crime in their county after they became aware of a photo he posted of himself molesting a 9-year-old girl. The girl's mother was able to identify her daughter from the photograph. Gersh has been practicing psychology in Georgia since April 2011.

Intown Psychological Associates is the name of Gersh's practice and the business's website says Gersh received his training in San Francisco before coming "back to his hometown, Atlanta, and has been practicing in the downtown area since 2007."

It also goes to describe his focus, "Gersh works with adolescents, adults, and families with a >focus on depression, anxiety, and a various psychological phenomenon that prevent individuals from maximizing their potential. Working on transitional issues with young adult and professionals are also strong areas of interest."

Cobb police say, "Parents of potential victims are encouraged to contact the agency with jurisdiction in which any crime may have occurred."
