Incoming House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler Threatens to Subpoena AG Matt Whitaker

On Wednesday, incoming House Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) threatened to subpoena Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker to make sure King Mueller’s precious witch hunt continues unabated.

Nadler told USA Today that his first order of business as Chairman will be to drag Whitaker in to testify before the House Judiciary Committee.

“We will, if we have to subpoena him and we will ask him, basically, about protecting the Mueller investigation,” Nadler told USA Today.

“Has he communicated with the White House? Has he told the White House what the Mueller people are doing?” Nadler asked. “In other words, is he in any way improperly interfering with the investigation?”

Acting AG Whitaker refused to recuse himself from the Mueller investigation despite a tremendous amount of pressure from Democrats and their mouthpieces in the media.

Nadler isn’t the only House Democrat vowing to drag Whitaker before Congress to testify.

Leaker, liar and incoming House Intel Chairman, Adam Schiff (D-CA) said in a November interview on CNN’s State of the Union that the Democrats intend to bring Whitaker in for a hearing to ask him a series of questions about the Mueller witch hunt.

Matthew Whitaker took over as Acting Attorney General in November after Jeff Sessions resigned as AG at the request of President Trump.

The Deep State and Democrats immediately came out swinging against Whitaker after he took over the Mueller probe from Rosenstein.

Unlike Jeff Sessions, Whitaker has been very vocal about his disapproval of Mueller’s witch hunt and the liberals are going crazy in their quest to stop him.

The House Democrats will spend all of their time investigating Trump and harassing any person who supports the President rather than work for their constituents — it’s going to be a long two years.

French Police Arrest One of Key Yellow Vests' Leaders in Central Paris

French police arrested Eric Drouet, one of the key figures in the so-called yellow west protests, near Place de la Concorde in central Paris over, local media reported.

Drouet was arrested for the "organization of a non-declared manifestation" late on Wednesday, the FranceInfo broadcaster, reported, citing a police source. The outlet added that Drouet and around 50 other people had arrived at the square to light candles for those injured during the yellow west protests. Apart from the opposition figure, a lot of other participants of the campaign have been arrested for identity checks.

The broadcaster noted that Drouet already faced trial in France in the wake of his previous arrest on December 22 over illegal possession of a police baton and participation in a group established for the purposes of violent activities.

Notably, on December 6, Drouet suggested that the participants of the yellow west protests should enter the Elysee Palace, which is the French presidential residence.

The yellow vest protests, named after hi-vis jackets worn by French drivers, began in November as a series of rallies against the fuel tax hike. Though the government has since backtracked on its fuel tax reform, the protests have grown into demonstrations against economic policies of French President Emmanuel Macron.

The protests have been overshadowed by violence between demonstrators and law enforcement.

John Solomon: Exculpatory Russia evidence about Mike Flynn that US intel kept secret

Sometimes public silence can be deafening or, for that matter, misleading.

For nearly two years now, the intelligence community has kept secret evidence in the Russia collusion case that directly undercuts the portrayal of retired Army general and former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn as a Russian stooge.

That silence was maintained even when former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates publicly claimed Flynn was possibly “compromised” by Moscow.

And when a Democratic senator, Al Franken of Minnesota, suggested the former Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) chief posed a “danger to this republic.”

And even when some media outlets opined about whether Flynn’s contacts with Russia were treasonous.

Yes, the Pentagon did give a classified briefing to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) in May 2017, but then it declined the senator’s impassioned plea three months later to make some of that briefing information public.

“It appears the public release of this information would not pose any ongoing risk to national security. Moreover, the declassification would be in the public interest, and is in the interest of fairness to Lt. Gen. Flynn,” Grassley wrote in August 2017.

Were the information Grassley requested made public, America would have learned this, according to my sources:

Before Flynn made his infamous December 2015 trip to Moscow — as a retired general and then-adviser to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign — he alerted his former employer, the DIA.

He then attended a “defensive” or “protective” briefing before he ever sat alongside Vladimir Putin at the Russia Today (RT) dinner, or before he talked with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

The briefing educated and sensitized Flynn to possible efforts by his Russian host to compromise the former high-ranking defense official and prepared him for conversations in which he could potentially extract intelligence for U.S. agencies such as the DIA.

The Once and Future Speaker: Godmother Nancy Pelosi Rises Again to Power

The first woman to wield the gavel of the House of Representatives is on track to secure it for a second time on Thursday, as a rebellion against her from within her own ranks was crushed from election day until now.

As the onset of the 116th Congress approaches, convening at noon on Thursday, Jan. 3, 78-year-old Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is the only declared Democrat candidate for Speaker of the House. Barring any unforeseen circumstances or last-second shenanigans by Democrat rebels against her, Pelosi will win back the Speaker’s gavel on Thursday afternoon–putting her in the driver’s seat on negotiations with President Donald Trump on everything from the ongoing government shutdown to major federal policy decisions on just about every issue.

Pelosi served as Speaker from January 2007 until the beginning of January 2011, for two Congresses when Democrats held the majority at the end of the George W. Bush administration and beginning of the Barack Obama administration, but she has been stuck in the minority since Republicans took control of Congress in the 2010 midterm elections.

The GOP held control in the House for eight long years, first with former Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) as Pelosi’s immediate successor as Speaker and then, after Boehner lost an internal Republican Party rebellion of his own with soon-to-be-former Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), as Speaker.

For nearly a decade, Pelosi clung to hopes of a return to power from her perch as Minority Leader–the head of the House Democrat Conference–but nearly was denied the opportunity when her massive unpopularity forced Democrat candidates to pledge opposition to her Speakership candidacy in exchange for support from the public. According to NBC News, a whopping 58 Democrats–11 incumbents and 47 new candidates who won their party’s nominations for House seats–pledged campaign trail opposition to Pelosi’s re-ascent to the Speakership.

There are technically two votes for the Speakership. The first is in conference, where members of a party select whom their candidate will be. Democrats already selected Pelosi as their conference’s candidate with a late November vote of 203-32 with three blank ballots and one absent member. The second, and more consequential, vote is on the floor of the House of Representatives. The first order of business of a new Congress is for the House to elect a Speaker. So, when the 115th Congress disbands and the 116th Congress is sworn in, before the House can do anything else, the chamber must elect a Speaker.

For a candidate to win the Speakership of the House, that person must receive a majority of those present and voting for a person. Members of Congress can vote for formally introduced candidates–for Democrats that will be Pelosi and for Republicans that will be Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), the current Majority Leader who will become the House Minority Leader on Thursday when Democrats take over–or they can vote for someone not listed. The candidate can be a member of the House, but does not have to be–the Constitution is very nonspecific on the requirements for candidates for election to be Speaker of the House–though there has never been a Speaker who is not a member of the House.
