anon, it is a great deal because if Schumer didn't agree then POTUS had to start all over with all 350 nominees. all new security background checks, interviews, documents, EVERYTHING. 2 years of nominees on hold start all over! He got some through with an agreement. McConnel would not have lightly turned over power for recess appointments. They have worked together to block POTUS for 2 years. They do it bu keeping a small staff and gaveling in every 2-3 days. They haven't done this to many presidents before. If POTUS makes a recess appointment, they have 364 days to do their job and confirm. Imagine 350! No rest for the wicked! They have to prove the person DOES'T deserve to be there at that point. POTUS was about to lose all 350 without this agreement. Now he loses something less than 350

I'm starting to get frustrated about this because it is simple to me. Sorry! Listen. At noon tomorrow everything that is pending in the 115th is dead. It would have to be restarted for the 116th. McConnell has blocked recess appointments for 2 years by keeping a skeleton staff and gaveling in every 2-3 days. This has not been the normal practice for other presidents. This is how they have kept POTUS from filling his cabinet and appointing judges. McConnell is the sole decider of this action. He blocked POTUS from recess appointments at every recess. He made a deal with Schumer tonight . If Schumer agreed to confirm a number tomorrow in session then McConnell would not allow time to slip by and open the door for POTUS to appoint through recess. McConnell has NOTHING on the schedule ( last I checked) for tomorrow and he had no reason to call senate to order tomorrow for business. Schumer agreed to give him reason. It is a gentlemen's agreement but Schumer is fucked if he doesn't follow through. Recess appointments seem to be favored by anons so hearing about a deal for less than the requested amount could seem ugly. The fact of the matter is, all 350 were dead until McConnell threatened to turn over power to POTUS. Don't be dismayed that McConnell holds his power for that so tight. Imagine BHO being allowed to sign in 350 judges, cabinet members, ect… and leaving a senate to back peddle and investigate/confirm them all in 364 days. They would get nothing else done. They couldn't do that job in that time frame. The senate should never turn over that power to a president! They have a job to do as a check and balance
