Satan in Hebrew means to oppose.

Contrary is a synonym for oppose.

Leviticus 26 Retribution for those who intentionally oppose God

If you do not obey me, but walk contrary to me, then I will walk contrary to you in fury, and I will chastise you seven times for your sins. You do eat the flesh of your sons, and you do eat the flesh of your daughters. I will destroy your high places, cut down your incense altars, and cast your carcasses on the lifeless forms of your idols.

The members of this family are worshiping false gods and consuming their fellow members of the house, here identified as Sons and Daughters.

In this biblical language, sons and daughters are the member children of a family, more specifically a house, like the House of Kohath, Gad or Judah therefore meaning other members of the tribe. It could also apply to the House of Israel, which contains the 13 Houses, and would apply to all of Israel.

From the point of view of Moses, this would be a future prediction for the Children of Israel for not obeying, identifying what the false god worshipers will do in their opposing activities which includes cannibalism. This also suggests this method of worship was not present in the Children of Israel before they entered into Canaan, but was a worship practice of the Canaanites they would become exposed to after they entered the promised land.

Deuteronomy 12

Take heed to yourself that you are not ensnared to follow them (False god Worshipers), and that you do not inquire after their gods, saying, ‘How did these people serve their gods? I also will do likewise.’ You shall not worship Yah your God in that way; for every abomination, to Yah which He hates, they have done to their gods; for they burn even their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods.

The Children of Israel were not child cannibal child sacrifice false god worshipers, but those who were exposed to the Canaanite religions of the land they conquered, some would begin to follow the religious practices of the Canaanites.

Deuteronomy 9

Do not think in your heart, saying, 'Because of my righteousness Yah has brought me in to possess this land'; but it is because of the wickedness of these nations that Yah is driving them out from before you.

The Children of Israel were identified as a rebellious, stiff-necked people who refused to listen to Yah. Though the Children of Israel had their faults, they were not known for Cannibal Child Sacrificing. The Canaanites were a magnitude greater in wickedness than the Children of Israel and is why God identified them for eviction from the land promised to Abraham. It was the Canaanites who practiced Cannibalism and Child Sacrifice for their gods.
