Pelosi invites POTUS to SOTU

Dear Mr. President:

 

The Constitution established the legislative, executive and judicial branches as co-equal branches of government, to be a check and balance on each other. The Constitution also calls for the President to “from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union.”

 

In the spirit of our Constitution, I invite you to deliver your State of the Union address before a Joint Session of Congress on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 in the House Chamber.

Pelosi jokes about giving $1 for Wall

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday joked that she might pay a dollar for President Trump's proposed border wall as part of ongoing negotiations over government spending.

 

She was asked whether there’s any scenario under which Democrats would accept “even a dollar” for new construction of Trump’s border wall.

 

“A dollar? A dollar? Yeah, one dollar,” Pelosi told a group of reporters just off of the House floor.

 

She later seemed to rescind even that offer.

 

“We’re not doing a wall. Does anybody have any doubt about that? We are not doing a wall. So that’s that,” she said.

 

“It has nothing to do with politics. It has to do with: The wall is an immorality between countries. It’s an old way of thinking [and] it isn’t cost-effective.”
