I received an invitation from L.A. County to attend a meeting:

 

"You know your community better than anyone. Learn how voting will change in 2020 and suggest where we should place Vote Centers in your neighborhood."

 

I'm not sure what to think of it yet.

It looks like there's a smartphone app that can be used to prepare on and have them ready to go at the booth.

 

Yes, there is a paper ballot produced, and it happens right there in the booth. And it's collected right there in the booth as well. (See the video.)

In the old process, we received serialized ballots with a tear-off stub/receipt. I don't see how they control the ballots in this system. At first glance, it looks like it uses plain paper, and I didn't see anything about it that created a receipt for the voter.
